I went to the con this weekend and had a blast, though it seems I picked up the ‘con cold’ for the first time. I did not get too many pictures this year as I actually managed to go to a few panels of interest instead of walking around the whole time like normal. I also did not volunteer like I usually do.
I just wanted to share a few of my favorite pictures (though some are slightly blurry).
The highlight of the weekend for me. Unfortunantly, I missed the rest of the Persona 4 group and am very depressed about it since I was looking forward to seeing them so much.

This guy was dressed up as BumbleBee from Transformers. I did not get a shot of him in the full costume though (I was on another floor at the time).

This is Cloud from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. His(her) sword actually came apart like shown in the picture and it all fit back together into one blade just like in the movie. It was awesome.

And now for the bjd doll meet up! These ones in the first picture are the few that I brought. Loki (the big redhead) is wearing a jacket I have not finished making yet.

This one was done for size comparison. The tiny on the far left is a PukiPuki which are 12cm. Loki is on the far right and is 65cm but is also wear boots with thick soles so is a little taller here.

Doll dresses and body blushing

I have recently made a couple outfits for my girls and don’t think I’ve shown them yet.
These two for Aria are using the Infinity Dress pattern I got from this site. The first one I did was using a fat quarter I had lying around and I did not have enough to hem so it is freyed. The second one was using a stretchy material that worked out much better. It also fit her better than the first due to the first being much too big in the waist.
For the first time I attempted to do body blushing on a doll. I only did his torso (and back) and I think it looks better than when he had nothing. I can’t decide if I made it too dark or not but it will do.

I am not finished yet, but I am also making a jacket for one of my big boys and will post when I get around to finishing it.
Doll face ups

Since I have gotten into the ball-jointed doll (BJD) hobby, I have been working on improving doing the face ups. I have a couple dolls where I paid extra to have the company do the face up, but I have found that I actually really like doing them myself now. While I have improved a little bit, I still have a long way to go. Having never worn make up myself, I was starting from a blank slate.
This is the very first face up that I did. Model is a Dream of Doll, Dream of Teen Shall.

The eyebrows are too high, the lips are painted too heavily with acrylic pant, very little color to the cheeks and not color shading done around the eyes or elsewhere. She did eventually get upper lashes put in but they are off in the above picture.
This is the face up I just completed yesterday. Model is a Dream of Doll, Dream of Teen Dream (not sure which version).

The eyebrows are lower and have a more natural shape and look, the lips are colored with pastels instead of acrylics (I don’t fill in the crevice due to it being hard to remove), visible color on the cheeks and not only does she have shading around her eyes but I even gave her eyeshadow. She has upper lashes in, a bit hard to tell in the pic, but I still need to work on lower lashes.
Please note that in the second picture that the head is more pink than the body. The body was originally that pink too but it is two years old now and they ‘yellow’ over time. The head I bought second hand from someone who had kept it in a box so it had not lost any color. I may try to blush the body to match better at a later point.
What does anyone else think? Have I improved?

I finally got around to finishing Nels room this weekend. I changed the wallpaper because I did not have any more of the butterfly print and so now it’s flowers. I also knit up the carpet. Now I’m just looking for things to hang on the wall so it doesn’t look so empty.
I also finished up some more clay things but I don’t have a picture of them yet and will post that later.

Here is the dress I did for Mira. I adjusted the size a tiny bit from the draft version but it looks like I need to go a tad bigger in the waist area. It ripped slightly in the back when I was putting it on her.
I still need to practice more with the eyelets, they did not go in right again so the back doesn’t look good. If I can manage to make one without ruining the back, then I will add lace and such to the dress so it won’t be so plain.
More clothes!

I just ordered a couple of new things for my incoming bjd, Raelyn (DoT Shall). I still can’t wait until everything gets here and then I can start taking pictures of her. I’ve also started saving up for DoT Ducan and am hoping to get him this year, but we’ll see how things go.
If it is nice this weekend, I’m going to try and make a few things for her, maybe a couch for her to sit on or a bag to carry her in. I haven’t seen one online that I liked that’s in stock. Again, we’ll see how things go. ^.^
